May 1966 - Grandma's Smile

I love that Grandma posed with rollers in her hair. I am sure Grampa thought she was just as beautiful with them as without them. You can see the chair where Grampa takes care of his daylilies.

There appears to be laundry hanging on the line to the right that stretched from the large pole to a second floor window. Grandma would hang her body out the window to peg the clothes to the line.

Grandma turned 49 on May 5th in 1966. I am the same age that she was in this photograph. I wonder how she felt about turning 50.

These photos are from my grandfather's collection of carefully labeled slides and photographs. Some include not only the exact date, but also the time of date. Grampa was a prolific photographer. The Magical Backyard is a collection of photo memories from my grandparent's (and now my aunt's) backyard.

Spend some time here; enjoy the garden or sit in the shade of the big maple tree. It's a peaceful place enjoyed now by the fourth generation of the Smith family in Bristol, Connecticut.
